better if can wrap it with those kinda very fine cloth filter ... as some of them are really small can still get suckd in .
Hi brother there are some things that you may want to try;
a) Wrap the inlet with sponge or cloth but they will clot up very fast like one or two weeks.
b) Try to touch anything in the tank. Stress.
c) You may feel the all the shrimps in the tank a bit changing color which i also don't know well. But seem looks better.
d) Normally shrimplets like to leap from one spot to one spot so try to move your inlet higher. Less chance to move up to there.
e) The first week is the most important. If your shrimplets feeds on food, they will molt. After molt,they will more or less able to survive.
All from my 8 months experience on CRS shrimps.
Actually you can get those cheap black filter sponge which cost about $2. Cut a rectangular size and then cut a small hole by the side. Fix the sponge to the inlet pipe without using the inlet head. The red in color shrimp will rest on the sponge feeding.

do you mean wool filter? or those only sponge? the sponge opening also quite big.. might be able to suck in some newly birth shrimp..
The package normally comes with a black sponge and green filter wool. True enough the opening is a little too big for 1 month shrimplet but you need to raise the inlet to prevent it. The fine cloth type will clot the inlet with moss and dirt very fast.
PS You will need to tie the inlet when you see shrimp pregnant. By then you accumulate dirt on the sponge and reduce the suction pressure.
