    Hi everyone,

I've purchased a CO2 set from NA yesterday, and since my tank setup is not ready, I have not turned it on. I noticed this morning from the gauge that my CO2 level has dropped? Does this mean the tank is leaking, since I have no turned on anything? What should I do?

This is the first time I am using a CO2 set, would appreciate all the help I can get, thanks.

have not use any co2 tank before but for a pressurized vessel/tank, if a pressure indicator show a drop, it is suggesting a leak.

recommend you do a soap test around the joints/connections. just let soap water run along the joints/connections and see if its bubbling. if it is, its leaking.

    cheers!
when theres any doubt, theres no doubt...

Didn't Chan of NA teach you a procedure to check if the CO2 is properly set up and not leaking when you got the set? Cannot remember the procedure as I got my CO2 set quite a few years back. He told me how to turn the knobs of the tank and regulator and say monitor the gauge for 24 hours before actually setting it to release the CO2 into the tank. It the reading of the gauge drop, bring it back to him. Maybe you can give him a call to check.

It dropped from 1000psi to about 700psi. I called Mr Chan, he told me to turn the knob of the tank from open to close and monitor for the next 5 hours. I've done that, but the level is still dropping. I think I might have to bring it back, sigh.

have you tried checking for leaks using soapy water at the joints?
do you have a solenoid valve or needle valve connected after the regulator?

    Hi tawauboy and Shadow,

Nope, I have not done the soap test yet and there is no solenoid valve after the regulator.

I turned the knob of the tank from open to close a second time after the pressure level dropped, I checked it this morning and it level seems to be stable and has not dropped. I'm not sure if this means that it is ok?

do you have anything that stops co2 release after the regulator?
what is the "stable" level that you are getting?

just an update, I've brought my set back to NA for a check to see if there is any leak. after submerging the entire tank set into a fish tank, mr chan found a leak in one of the valves. so, he tighten it and now everything seems to be ok.

I believe its one of the valves. Sorry since I'm new to this CO2 system not very sure what is the name. I believe its one of the valve connection.

I've finally set up my tank and turned on my CO2 system and I am using a manual regulator. I've noticed that once I have adjusted my needle valve to get the bps that I want, after a few minutes, the bubbles will just stop. And I would have to readjust the valve to get the bps that I want again. This is a common occurence for me, I will have to keep readjusting my needle vavle to get the bps that I want. Is this normal??

oh... will a solenoid solve this problem? of having to readjust all the time?
any other solutions for this phenomenon?
