I purchased some plants online for a new rescape of some of my tanks over the weekend... as I was out of the house at that time, I got my parents to rinse them and chuck them into one of my tanks.... Those chose the CRS tanks as all my plants do very well there (chilled, lights, etc)...

Upon my return, to my horror, I found all my medium sized shrimps dead and all the shrimplets disappeared... the yamatos are also behaving strangely clustered together at a corner...

I suspect that the plants in the farm may have pesticides or strong fertilizers on them which when leached, can kill your shrimps... so bros do beware!!

Bro sorry for your loss, I was traumatised once badly by this experience quite sometime back.

Have you quickly done a major water change?

Yeah... I followed up with a quick WC...

The loss is especially painful given that the shrimplets were so cute... Fortunately my other livestock are okay...

What a pity, especially the BDS. You will soon make up the number again!

    My lucky escape

    Me too !

Out of itchy hand trying to deco my sulawesi tank, has put in a soaked over night Nana on DW. Suddenly, all shrimps & frys became hyper active swiming like never before!

The lucky thing happened that they crowd around a bag of Zolite stone and this was the reason why there is no death occurs.

Called this my lucky escape because i couldn't realize the mistake , and i did remove the plant only the next morning , the reason was it has started turning yellow.

God has blessed my shrimp !

Happened to quite a few other members over the years. We have yet to pinpoint the exact cause, but it seems to limited to certain plants only.

What plants were they? Let's see if it's the usual suspect.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Thanks for the warning...got some plants from there as well and decided to triple wash them when i remembered your advice.I would've usually done simple rinsing but guess i decided to go paranoid in wake of your tragedy. What ferts could they be possibly using that could cause so much problems?
