had not much time to update.....thousand apologies. anyway, the photo shoot is still continuing. the tank is getting matured from day to day. surely but slowly i see some more algae growing. perhaps it is from the new ferts tht i am currently using. added a bag of 100 mlayan shrimps to combat this. but seems like shrimps go missing.....strange? could it be my lone puffer that is having sashimi from b'fast lunch, dinner and perhaps supper.

ok, enjoy the photo report and update.

new tertilizers that i am currently trying. no experience using them. appreciate if the sifus using these can guide me with some useful feedback. tq. noticed that after using lush gro fe, rotala n ludwingia turns red for only a day or two after which it returns to golden green again. i have also inserted jbl iron tablets into the substrate....result...not much...leaves turned from gold to brown not red. comments pls.

yah, the farm one is slim slim red red, looks like the one in the aqua journal vol 37 back cover......, the other one however may be another species, i think, not sure though. inserting iron also does not help, the color still golden green.

well anyway, it gives a nice contrast to the red'ness of the other stellata and the aromatica.

and the blue oyama paper was really a great move.. its so contrasting with the other colors of the plants

i think the blue bg made the plants stand out.......still thinking of a name to this scape.....hmmm......the primary colors with green complimented each other......in fact i didn't want to have colorful fish for this scape. as it takes the attention off the plants, but what to do when you have 'old' fish.

HC grown in plain gravel? I guess nutritious substrate isnt a requirement for HC? Nutrient uptake predominantly in the water column for this plant i take it? Confirmation on this would be helpfull if someone doesnt mind. I've always taken it for granted it was required, if not this is good news for me and my planned HC + US fissiden tank i'm planning.

I placed base fertilizers on the tank bottom and midways in the substarte. As certain plants have longer roots and certain plants have root mass that spread out... like hair grass and hc. I am no dr. and i cannot confirm that it will work for u, but it does for me.... good luck on your mew project.

Re: Raw teak wood to cabinet w 90x45x45 cade tank

just an update. of late i had algae spike in my tank due to excessive light and nutrients. had to put the lights back on its stand, reduce the lighting time, and stopped all fertilization for a couple of weeks. co2 reduced to 2 bps, lights to only 7 hrs a day with a 'break' of 4 hrs in between.

algae algae algae everwhere......hopefully this is the end stage after 2 wks of dosing 'weed killer'

some of the living algae ramnents. enjoy some algae, they are pretty though, some of them....hahaha.

after 1st application by painting algae killer on fissiden; after 24 hrs. top view.

another view, pretty color isn't. pity the rotala and ludwingia colors faded.

    and the 'weed killer'

still very much alive, still stubborn and giving me a hard time.

now for the notorious lot. this is taken 240409, coming 3 wks already, they are dying.

symbiosm amongst algae, is there such thing? thriving happily together. 2 types thriving side by side.

what algae is this? th eone next to the stone.

dead hair algae among the living. used to be 8cm long, and all over.

I foresee the algae would appear, and it happened. Lots of reason behind it, from the way the setup runs.

Poor CO2 and adding more(which increases CO2 demand) light caused this algae.

    Algae killers are terrible.
Do not use them, focus on good CO2, less light. Noon time breaks, and less CO2 do not help. Good stable CO2, reduced intensity does help.
