    Looking from the demo, a single plasma bulb might light up a 3 footer tank. But I hope it doesn't gives off a lot of heat or else it's might just be as similar to metal halide lighting. And the pricing wise, I really wish it cost less than a metal halide setup. I think it doesn't need a ballast.

    Found the company and the bulb spec. Kelvin is rated for 6000 for the 1st bulb and 5300 for the 2nd bulb. Looks like planted tank friendly to me.
