    Eheim 2213 flowrate too weak?

I currently have a 2ft setup which is using an Eheim 2213 cannister filter. When I first bought it, the flow rate was considered high as my fishes were constanly trying to fight the flow from the output of the filter. But after some modifications, the flow was adjusted to a fairly nice rate. However, after less than a year of using, I noticed that the flow rate has pretty much become weak. I decided to shorten my hoses, clean my filter media/hoses and even had my impeller changed. Having done all of the steps mentioned, I still find that the flow is still too weak. Has anyone experienced the same complications and what did you do to solve the matter? As the flow is too weak, I find that water circulation is affected. Please advise.

i didn't have to wait a year...my 2028 flow slowed within 2 weeks. also I believe you shouldn't need to replace any parts within a year.

    no idea why either

my 2213 been running for years, didn't feel any flow rate change. it is maybe because your plant are growing and break the flow. Did you measure what your current flow is?

How long are the hoses on your filter? It is best to keep it below 6ft length in total for both inlet and outlet.

Yea... My hoses are not that long either... About 2 - 3 feet... I thought that I was one of the few unlucky ones to be in this situation.. But from the looks of it.. I have a feeling many are also stuck in the same boat.. I also noticed that after switching from a HOB filter to this current eheim 2213 setup, my tank is being attacked by BGA.. I feel it has to be due to the insufficient water circulation in the tank. Do you guys have any recommendations on any other cannister filters with a better flow rate which is around $60 - $70 and is also reliable?

Did you change the foam pads?

I recently did a maintenance for my 2232. Been using for 3 months with cleaning the filter.

The flow rate was very slow for the last 1 over months. Tried cleaning the external CO2 reactor and cleaned the hose - using a pull through brush. But flowrate did not get better.

So this maintenance, I changed the white foam pad. Now the flowrate is back to normal. And I also change the external CO2 reactor to another type of external CO2 reactor

Since you mentioned doing some modifications. Maybe you should take out some of the modifications. Like what I did to the external CO2 reactor.

i only replace 01 white sponge/filter pad for my canister every 3rd to 4th month as part of my regular maintenance. I leave the black course sponge untouch although that piece has quite alot of dirt.

Currently, I am using a Jaqno CO2 mixer. As for the white filter pad, I replaced it with a common blue filter wool. But I must say, the white filter pad, once it gets dirty, it clogged up the filter alot.

There's report on Jaqno CO2 mixer leaking, more over the design doesnt make the water spin, so the mixing is pretty long actually. I maybe wrong.
