    greetings to all....[:]

i got another question which i can't find any answers in any threads...
I would like to ask how often do u guys wash yr external canister filter ? and when wash, wat's the "best"/recommended way to wash it ?
and when do u guys change the filter mediums inside the filter ?
i ask NA , n mr chan told mi wash abt 6 mths but use only aquarium water to wash n refill it...
ah hui from Teo gives mi different answer...he says wash whenever u wan to keep it clean...

read somewhere in here, someone said somthing abt only can wash the white cotton..leave the rest alone...but wat if the ceramic rings are dirty with residue ?

    i'm currently using Eheim 2233.
    cotton wool x1 at top
blue course wool x1 at base
in between are filled with ceramic rings...

    thanks....[]

SleepyAries, depending on your setup, but usu when I wash my filter media, I use only my aged tank water to wash my media. If you want to, you can rinse your ceramic rings with the tank water and wash your floss more thoroughly. But the idea here is not to use chlorinated tapwater - becaise it will kill off your beneficial bacteria. [:]
