Those algae grow on the rocks make them more natural.

Thanks! Wah bro... you seems to disappear or evaporate from AQ. Must be very busy shifting your house and building tank for your Apisto. A house or Fish farm? Not bad for a 2mth setting up this tank for competition, actually when i submit the photo for competition, the plant is still not fully grown to its shape yet, still can get N0.5, not bad "liao"! Will post for the competition photo and after competition photo, you'll see the difference how much the tank has mature further.

Seems like many forumer has quiet down recently, as what Jervis mentioned earlier.

    Hi Adrian,
What would be the factors that brought out the rich colors of your fauna?
What food do you feed them? Pellets only? Do you add suppliments like Fishtamins?
What about water parameters like KH? A LFS once mentioned to me that keeping KH at 4-5 helps develop the rich colors in the fauna.... not sure if there is any truth in it.

Hi gcce! Finally you make your first post. LOL! Clean water, good bb(bacterial) environment. I only feed food pellet, get your fish swim more, good water circulation(you'll notice fish like to swim against the current especially when you change the tank water), dont worry they are tried, they will find a place to rest at the plant bed. I dont feed supplement like Fishvitamins or so, they dont need those stuff anyway. Just get nutrious pellet food will do.
Yes! KH do play important role, try to maintain around KH3, too high KH is no good for plant, when plant suffer, your fauna will suffer also, high KH do bring out the fauna colour, but too high... too low, PH crash. If your plant is healthily grow you should see your fauna happily swimming also.

And to keep the ball rolling.... my second post.

    Thanks for the info.
What food (micro)pellets do you recommend? Haifeng/Hagen/...?
What product do you use to manage your KH level? I think S Equilibrium only brings up GH & not KH. What test kit do you use to measure your KH?

I like this fish food. Sometime i do mix with other fish food.
    Courtesy of Hagen website.

I use API to test the KH. I dont use any booster or product to raise the KH. Good bacterial environment and good water quality should be around KH3, +/-. Once the tank is stable i dont measure them anymore. From plant, fauna can tell whether your tank condition is in tip top condition.

    Adrian,
Moving house this Friday. Have been really really busy. Just changed job 2 months ago, and was in HK the last time I spoke to you. Since then, have been really busy settling stuff in the office.
My 2.5ft tank decommission leow. Bought a new 3 ft tank from a bro here, and set it up in record time of under 2 hours in my new balcony. Will take photos once I settle in the house. ha ha ha ha ha
Decided not to go for Apisto farm leow. I really got no time to manage. I got a 2 tier wrought iron stand, and have one tank now. I may set up another 3 feet tank just for CRS with chiller. Wahahahahahahaha

Friday almost died.... damn siong. i bought a 2 storey maisonette, and I bet this sounds silly, but I'm not used to it, kept going up and down to clear 70 boxes, by the end of the day, I think I must have climbed at least 20 to 30 flights of steps! My calves are burning like hell now, and I can't flex them. Normal walking also got problem.

I just noted this morning that the @#$% wrought iron grill folks were not careful when moving the grill for the balconey. They hit my tank and caused a chip on the front right. Lucky only a small chip, and tank is not leaking. Sigh...

Anyways, I hope algae won't show up, cos the side of the balconey I placed the tank does not come under direct sunlight, even on the hottest clearest day. Temperature hits 29.5 though.... so, I would have to really consider a chiller leow! Wahahahahaha....

One thing I noticed, was that the plants look ALOT healthier and are bubbling even when the PL lights are not on. My fishes also seem healthier. More colour and more lively. Dunno if its because they get to see blue sky every day. heh heh....

Natural light is still the best if you can control well.

    Adrian

I thought you are using ADA Amazonia Aquasoil? Can you get the KH reading? I thought it should always read 0 if you are using aquasoil? Maybe I am wrong.

    Re: Blue33's Rocky Mountain

Not bad for this tank to achieve good result recently in short period planting.

AQ ADA Rank no. 5, tank wasnt mature yet before i submitted. It was around 2 months old tank.

IAPLC Rank no. 60, quite a surprise it rank no 60 out of 1342 for a first timer submitting in IAPLC, consider a newbie in this hobby. It was around 3-4 months old tank.

    Pretty happy with the resulted.

    Well done. Congrats Blue.

My opinion, I still prefer the not so matured, more like a zoom in on the scape.
The matured one is like a zoom out and makes it a bigger tank.

Congrats again. Guess you'll be very hype up for the ADA 2010.

    Re: Blue33's Rocky Mountain

Thanks! You are right, due to small tank, i've to make it look big instead of it look like 2ft tank. In IAPLC only big tank wins better ranking.

Thanks! Kind of tone down nowadays. Currently have a new setup, still fighting with the warm weather, plant melted.
