Forgive me for starting on a negative. It is a nice simple scape i must agree and looks visually pleasing to the eye. Not to mention for clown loach this is ideal too. But i have to ask. Is this a permanent home for your clown loach? It looks no bigger than a 2ft tank unless i'm mistaken from the picture.

I have to agree that 7 might be too much of a squeeze if it's only a 2ft tank. And you might want to provide them with more hiding places so that they are more comfortable. A substantial current is good for them too!

Not only the fact that 7 might be a squeeze, i was referring to the general potential size clown loach can grow to. My grand-father had 2 clown loach in a 4ft tank that was easily 10 inches long. This being said they don't often grow above 6 inch in captivity but the potential is there for them to grow anything up to 24 inches in length. A 2ft tank is way to short. A 3ft tank is possible to get away with, i currently have two in a 3ft tank. But 4ft onwards is generally recommended for these fish.

It's not your fault as a buyer within the trade, its the LFS that are at fault. They constantly fail to inform people about how big these seemingly cute little fish can get. Day after day they are sold to unsuspecting people in the hobby who perhaps don't realise what a monster fish they potentially have.

Stunning fish yes they are, and i absolutely adore them. I just hope you can house them better, if not now atleast as they grow bigger. You'll be greatly rewarded with a species tank of these fish in a year or so. Especially with 7, all interacting with them. A bigger tank, with more hiding places, areas to dig and swim will yield great satisfaction.

Thanks for the advice, currently abit sick too write.

Yes the tank was 2 by 1.5 by 1.5ft, and housing 4 x 3inch and 3 x 1.5inch may be too tight, but right now should be fine, need to get them to a bigger tank soon.

Before i purchase the fish, i did a research on them online and go library, so i knew that they will grow to a substantial 12 inch in wild. The hiding place is enough for them now, and have a current flow behind the wood for them to train their muscle.

I have a 4ft which i may sell, and get another 4 ft. Ha ha, i will sure set a better tank for them, but not now, as need to get my old 4 ft away first, now sick must rest again.

Sure. One thing is that clown loach tend not to outgrow a tank but it also means that the growth is being stunted.
