Spotted a dragonfly nymph in my shrimp tank last week and managed to crush itSaw another one today. Tried to catch it but it burrowed into the thick mosses. Arrgh!
2 of my females are newly berried. What's the chance that the pesky nymph will leave my shrimplets alone? Otherwise what's the best way to get rid of them? Any advice would be appreciated
I stay on the 8th floor but since its next to the reservoir I get all sorts of strange stuff in my water - may have been carried by the wind? - and I get strange insects as well.
Arrgh! Looks like I would have to do a major prunning. Found a nymph in another of my shrimp tank but that was easy to catch and crush because the moss isn't so overgrown.
The answer is yes the dragonfly nymph will prey for shrimplets. Recently did you introduce any plants to your shrimp tank? Sometimes it is been introduce from live plants.

Try use an air tube. Siphon out the monster. Using net to catch is less effective IMO.
Good Luck.

Thanks for all your replies.
I found the pesky nymphs in 2 of my shrimp tanks (2 in each) so its unlikely that I got it from the moss I purchased.
Just dislodged all the moss and after finecombing manage to find and crush the remaining 1 nymphThankfully my shrimps are not too traumatised. Fingers crossed hope they don't return!
