    Hi all,

Can I check if there is a need for me to remove the female Apisto from the tank after the pair had spawn? I have a 2ft tank with lots of Java ferns and lava stones in it.

I have this problem. My Agasszzii Cairo pair had spawn on me sucessfully for 3 times within in a span of 2 months but I just discover the female had been beaten so badly by the male that it passed away yesterday. I was too late to take it out cos she went into deep hiding all the time. The moment I saw her, she was already lying flat in between one lava stone. The fries are still with me.

So would like to enquire from the senior here how do you all keep the pair you all have till their last breathe.

Thanks for all your time and advice.

    Cheers

Hi i think you meant remove the male right? Normally the female would be the one taking care of the fries so its better for you to remove the male if possible, ideally without disturbing the female

so that she does not feel threatened. If threatened, the female might eat the fries. Defending her fries from the male would be the reason your female was attacked by the male.

Usually, people here isolated the male after they noticed that the female has spawned. In the way, u save the female and the fries ?

Hi, you may want to observe first, the male may be guarding the eggs as the female is eating it...

From my experiences, it is always the male that is being chase and so it is removed leaving only the female to guard and bring up the fries.
