If the condition is right (i.e. low temperature), I think you will start noticing growth in 3 to 4 weeks. Be patient... they are really very slow grower!
For a long time I considered it the slowest of the slow, but I recently moved my small plate of it into a tank with very strong current (over 300 GPH in a 10 gallon ) and it is going like a rocket. In less than 2 weeks I've seen a number of new branches develop, and it has greened up considerably. Who knows what I'll see in a few weeks, but I'm amazed at the difference.
It's also getting a LIGHT daily dose of Excel. Before when I used that, I had some bad times with my mosses, but they all seems to like a low dose.

I think the key is high Light & flourish excel.
Hi
I have always found in good light conditions and with Co2 it is a fast grower once established.
If i planted it thinly on a rock i would expect it to be covered in a month.
Tie a thin layer on the mesh/rock. Do not overlap the fissidens as their growth will not be as neat. Use stronger lights and it should turn green.
Trimming is messy, but if it can grow densely, you can remove it gently by pulling out bit by bit without leaving holes. My fissiden can cover the rock in a month under good lights and CO2.

do not do to others what you will not want done to you!
be kind! =)
Does this plant requires low temp?
US fissiden can withstand temperature up to 30. But the growth rate will not be that fast as compared to low temperature.
