Finally!!! The "thick wood" is very difficult to scape indeed!

i noticed that, that part became the focus point.. now what i hope is that the stem plant grew real well and manage to creep around the wood..

i have added an instant lawn of xmas moss around the wood(inserting fronds into the gravel) i hope that add points to the scape.

What you have so far i like, and i love the didiplis diandra! Although i have to admit, the 'xmas log' end looks very unsightly. Have you a plan to conceal this untidy end?

i find that it makes the whole tank very unnatural. due to its obvious cut i believe.. i guess sourcing for another wood is the only choice left.

You can actually use moss to conceal the right end - tied on the wood itself. Then add midground plants infront of it. Couple with some long leaves plants at the back. This should break the shape.

The other way is to sink in the wood into the substrate. And put more wood around it.

It is a very nice wood. Some creativity would make good use of it

And your dropcheck is showing yellow.

Like what Ghim said, its a really nice piece of wood. I would take a chisel and hack out that end to make it look natural. Having a piece of wood this thick is not easy to find, so it is a good piece.
How come you chose that piece of wood?

currently new tank kH would be low.. drop checker won't be accurate... im only using 1bps now for my tank.

With so many nice ideas from us all... be a good aquascaper and fix it... don't just give up on it... a piece of diamond is just a mere piece of rock before cutting, shaping and TLC

Re: EvolutionZ's new 2ft planted tank journal.

    update :
so far so good, no algae at all as for what i can see..
new livestocks.. 50 cherry shrimps and 2 otos.

enjoying their food among the jap hg.

the moss lawn is doing pretty good.. lime green fronds can be seen.

i was expecting the didiplis diandra's leaves to be thin. but end up they grew green and thick leaves, now the DD looks more like rotala 'green', as for the tonina, its quite a challange to keep it alive in gex soil, they grew very well in ada soil, i can see obvious growth, but they don't look really healthy.

tomorrow will drop by uncle richard(colourful) to get more plants..
