some how i am having same problem...maybe worse than urs...finding one dead each day when return home from work...sigh! tested pH seems ok... gH kH...no test kit...![]()
Hi All,
Very sad, i bought 5 sakuras from C328. Today the last one died. it took 10 weeks for all 5 to die.... Is this due to water or Seachem dosing? or something else? Sigh....
Now, In there there are now 8 cherries which i had since juvile. See if they can survive.
My fishes are doing ok though....
Regards,
Anthony

sorry to hear that... hmm wondering why?? (Thinking aloud) if it was wiped out one shot it is easier.... but over a 3 months period....

I have been having this problem with my 3 footer also. I suspect its the temperature in my case. Or that possibly the Deponit fertilizer base is somehow leaching through the substrate into the water..
My 10 microrasboras Galaxies and 3 Espei are doing fine though.
pH 7.5, GH 4, KH 5
IMO shrimps are sensitive to PH swings, so good GH is important to control this.
Also temperature .... good to be below 28 degrees Celsius preferably between 24-26 degrees.
Use mature water, water treated with anti-chlorine/chloromine left overnight with an air pump.
Good Luck!

Hi ! folks,
I guess it could be the surge of ammonia in the gravel that cause the death of shrimps. Would suggest to put in some zolite stone to counter this threat.
Another point is the circulation of water in the tank. Dead water area will accumulate pools , decay food that becomes ammonia to wipe out the shrimps. Good tank water circulation and filtration will prevent this problem.
Remember shrimps have zero tolerant to ammonia !
Hope it helps !![]()

bro, sometimes during this time. Its best not to add too many addicitves into your tank. Since only a few shrimps, pass it to someone first. Redo your setup. Then from here, start properly. Use proper gravel and filter. Age water. Actually, sakura is already very easy to keep. Good luck to your hobby. Remember, having a proper setup is more important, its the building tile.

Another name is quite straight forward - Ammonia remover stone . Most LFS here sell it .
I understand that this rock will release chemical that blinds the ammonia but it also have a short livespend of 2 ~ 3 months and need to be replace. It is harmless to fishs & shrimps but not sure if it will affect the BB in the filter, therefore i only have a small amount pack into a net, place it as far as possible away from my sub filter.
Cheers !![]()

Get a old sea mud rock will do the trick. You can get it from CRS haven, NA, Petmart and etc. Look for big piece! Shrimplets love it.
Old sea mud remineralises the water and among other things will contribute to the growth and wellbeing of your shrimp.
However I think it may be important to consider the quality of your water to start with. Shrimps are especially sensitive to stuff in the water compared to fishes. Some people - including myself - don't even dose fertilizer in their shrimp tanks.
ok thanks, but i dun know where got sell and where is cheaper. Any bros or sis got any place to recommend? I stay in dover so i hope C328 is good price...![]()
Did you cycle your tank for at least a month before introducing the sakuras? Or are you dosing Seachem Excel? If you are using Seachem Excel, either stop using it or reduce the recommended amount.
C328 will be pretty good priceYou can also get the powder form. 1 bottle can last very long.

You corry would love to eat your shrimps too and all the other fish in you tank IMO :P
Only fish "safe" for shrimp as far as I know is Otto.
My CRS breeding tanks have 0 fish.

Don't have to dose it everyday. You can used it during water change.
Half to 3/4 is still on the high side. If you really want to use it, dose like 10% of the recommended amount alternate days.
And have you taken out the fishes? These aren't shrimp friendly fishes. Especially if your tank is small.
