What is the correct way to plant Glossostigma elatinoides?

need some help here...

i bought some potted glosso - each strand of the plant has a few pairs of leave...

am i suppose to cut each strand into 2-3 pieces and plant them individually?

(i saw someone did that)

or can i plant them individually upright, or plant them lying down?

You can do all that. Just make sure leaves are exposed to light. Plants will grow to orientate themselves towards the light.

If your tank is not filled yet, you can dig a shallow pit. Spread them over the pit and sprinkle gravel over them.

If filled, you don't want the back breaking task of planting them in individually or in 2s and 3s, and you can bare the ugliness till they spread, you can separate and plant them as clumps.

i planted glosso before , its need high lights if not will grow upward. cheers.

thanks for your answers - i plant them by the roots, and so far they are still growing upwards...

i have a 55w 2ft light + 2x36W 2.5ft light total 127W...plants are pearling so i assume they are healthy...

btw i have this particular stalk that grows upwards faster than the rest - about 1/2cm everyday - the leaves are 2-3 times bigger than the rest...is it also glosso or the big cousin?

You should have more than enough light. Make sure the lights are focus on the glosso. Just wait and let them grow. 2-3weeks time you should see results.

The one that is growing faster, maybe getting more light.

1/2cm is the right speed for glosso growth

I plant glosso using the back breaking way. I will cut them in pairs of leaflets. And plant them deep, showing only the leaves.

If they are growing upwards, just trim it to the height that you want them to stay at. It may take a couple of tries, but eventually it will creep horizontally instead of vertically.

hi, the odd-ball-plant has grown to the water surface -

the leaves are oval shape and not tear-drop-shape like the others...

could it be a cousin of glosso?
