Pretty sure there is a certain limit of water that can be carried.
hi ya guys,
I just got back from thailand about 5hrs ago. Yeah I know I should be resting already... But Anyways, I saw some shops selling nice looking bettas at the weekend market. I know not much about bettas though but was wondering if it's ok to actually buy bettas from thailand and check in here to Singapore? Because when I go through inspection departing from thailand, they ask if I carry any water. Told them I carry a bottle of mineral water and they said it's not allowed. I have to do "water parade"
. Or is it safe, for the betta, if I were to check in my luggage? Anyone have experiences?

Pretty sure there is a certain limit of water that can be carried.
Currently keeping many wild betta species and other anabantoids.
I think its permitted as long as you place the fish and container in your 'checked in luggage' rather than carry it with you as 'hand carried' items/ luggage. I believe the limit is 3 liters of water. Not certain.
i did actually try it out before..but that was a long time ago when air port security was much slacker than it is now.. brought two bettas in back from phuket by placing them in two bottles of mineral water..of course the water inside wasn't mineral water lah, just normal tap water..and hand carried.
