i trawled Fish Street for 7 days during my 7 day trip there. The best one I found was a 2nd floor shop. Don't really know how to translate the name, but it's near the start of the street (when entering from Prince Edward MTR side), on the left side. You will see a sign above a door with CRS on it. If you go up to the 2nd floor, it's the best apisto shop as of january 2009
edit: went to re-read the post above, I believe we are talking about the same shop. It's "Yu2 Qing2" in hanyu pinyin and yes it means fish emotions or fish love![]()
Bro,
Noted with thanks. Are the quality of Apisto worth getting and how is the pricing compare to LFS?
quality similar or better to the premium ones available locally. pricewise, much much better than priced locally. i brought back 6 pairs!
Try shui chao dian (Aquatic-plant shop) too. I got afew pairs from them last time.

De Dwergcichlide Fanatiek
Now swimming: Plecos and Apistogrammas
yup alan is the owner. very friendly guy with quality apistos at a much more affordable price than locally.
Bro,
Thank you for info, now can get good price from owner by quoting you guys and more to follow
Very eager for the trip now.
By the way, you guys packed the Apisto separately in plastic bag or dump it together into 1 bag?
Intend to put the Apisto into 1 bag fill with 60% water and then use a styrofoam box to pack it, is this ok? Any better suggestion to ensure maximum protection for the prize catch? Thanks.

He will pack it for you, you just have to go back on the day of your departure or the night before to collect. He packs each fish individually. If you buy enough pairs, he will provide the styrofoam box. I got 6 pairsThe fish survived the trip back and one pair I kept in his original packing >24 hours after touchdown was still alive when i passed it to my friend
Don't worry about packing, they know how to do it. The second floor shop has quite a number of apisto but most of them are bred. If you are looking for wild ones, you will have to shop around.
I do have a picture which i forgot where i placed it, taken with the shop owner.
Very nice guy and he allows me to catch the fish myself.
Cheers!
Cheers!
Benetay
When I was there at least 1/2 of them were wild though benetay. I also have a photo somewhere of my wife and me taken with himdefinitely a friendly guy!
aside from that shop, there's another shop I believe called "Volvo Aquarium" that carries wild fish. It has 1 wall full of tanks with wild apistos, 2-3 tanks of wild discus and lots of plecos too. However, it's actually 5 minutes walk away from Goldfish St, not sure how to describe to you...also hidden away in the back corner of an office building. I believe Biotope previously brought in some wild fishes from there, as I remember Thio mentioning this Volvo Aquarium to me before in our chats
Haha I try to describe to the best of my memory. it's at the end of goldfish street, the end nearer to Mongkok Station. You cross the road, turn left. Walk a few block down there will be a building that looks rather old and has alot of mailboxes on the left of the door. Go into the building, go to i think the 2nd floor via staircase...turn left, walk all the way to the end and turn left again. You should see Volvo on your right.
This is based on my imperfect memory as I was actually being led there by a guy i met for the first time at a pleco shop haha. He was taking me to all the shops he knew that sold plecos as I was helping a friend source for L46. The apistos and discus were an added bonus.
However, in terms of shop ambience and fish conditions, I would say Alan's shop is better than Volvo. I didn't end up buying anything from Volvo
Hi Guys,
Just came back on Saturday nite. It is a very good fishy experience in Goldfish Street in Hong Kong. Managed to find Yu Qing aka. Fish Emotion on my last day in Kowloon before I went to Disneyland. Is it quite difficult to find the shop on the 2nd floor, I was looking out for high placed signboard on the building, would have missed it if not for my daughter, she spotted the signboard on the iron grill gate.
I brought back 2 pairs of Agassizzi Super Red with white lining on tail as per attached photo. It is a good buy at SGD30 per pair. The red on fins were strong and the blue sheen on body is just great.
Thanks to all Bro who show me the way with tips to the Goldfish street.

For those interested to find Fish Emotion do lookout for the following signboards on the downstair iron grill and the stairs leading up to the shop, is it on the same side of 许留山 Xu Liu Shan Restaurant (the dessert food chain with the red signboard and gold colored chinese character)。 If you are facing the staircase, 许留山 is on the right and Prince Edward MTR is on the left, Shui Chao Dian is behind you across the street.
