    Good day to all,
Had long wanted to set up a Terrarium Tank, however understood that it may invite pest.

Come across Hermit Crab while reading the Straits Times yesterday, did a couple of read out and now writing hoping that some senior can give me some tinkle. About the set up.

    1) Understood that Hermit Crabitat are using "0" coral sand as the main set up, so is the set up usually pest free? Other then the food & water.

    2) Instead of the "0" Coral Sand, can I use lapis sand which is previously use in my other aquarium?

    3) Understood that Hermit Crab are climber & required Bog Wood or Drift Wood for them to play with. Can I used the existing from previous aquarium?

    4) Where do you think I can find reliable shop selling this creature? Other then C328, Petmart & HAHA Crab.

    5) What are the other aspect that I must keep a look out for? Meaning tank size, can 45 * 45cm tank work? Planning to get 3 to 4 crab for a start, understood that minimum must have 3.

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers

Re: Advice needed for Hermit Crabitat

As for substrate, u can use coral sand or beach sand(thoroughly washed). remember u must always have two dishes of water, one fresh and another saltwater( no metal dish). change it regularly. Mist(never use tap water) your hermit crab and its shell regularly. (If possible daily to prevent bacteria infection on shells)

As for tank size bigger the better. a pair(Medium size) in 1 feet cube or 1 1/2 feet tank with lots of climbing branches or drift wood with sufficient ground dwelling area will be just nice.always keep at 2 cos they are very social creatures. lonliness can stress them.Put a few big empty shells.

Food- vege and fruits, avoid citrius food. remove uneaten food daily. feed( very moderate amount) alternate days, especially before going to bed as hermit are nocturnal creatures.
