    Hi,

I'm a first time CRS keeper, and am using an internal filter Eden 316 for my CRS tank. I'll like to know if there are CRS shrimplets, would they be sucked into the filter? Can anyone please advice?

In general. internal filters are not recommended because of several reasons. I can only name 2.

    1. Inlet may be too large.
    2. Heat generated by motor in water.

I have tried using internal filters before, failed miserably.
If you succeed, please share your experience.

Heat wise, I'm keeping the tank in my office that has aircon. The temperature is constantly around 22C. The shrimps appear to be happy at this temperature.

I only worry if there are shrimplets, would they be sucked into the filter. I estimate the filter inlet gaps are around 1~2mm. I've read on some forums that some people are using Eden 316 while having shrimplets, but the threads are very old. I'm not sure if they are using any netting to cover the inlets.

I was using some Made in China internal filter LOL.
if you have cool room temperature, I recommend you use HOB filter and use sponge to cover the inlet. (GEX HOB have convenient sponge inlet covers)
I know several people who use HOB to breed CRS.

    Good Luck.

I am using Eden 214 for my small little shrimp tank. I find the flow is too strong. Also, there was once I found a shrimp stucked at the flow controlling knob near the motor head. There must some suction power around that area.

I am now looking to trade it for a Eden316. I am using one Eden316 in my office. Seems ok so far.

Did your office tank have any baby CRS before? Anyway, if you are interested in getting a new Eden 316, you can get it at NA. That's where I got mine.
