looks pretty decent to me
may you should vary the stones' height a little so that both groups do not look so close in height
also move the left group bit more to the left? so that overall look will not be so "balanced"

Overall the scape look nice but it would be better if the big rocks are tall enough. Btw you have lots of equipment behind.![]()

tried to adjust the rocks but messed things up. Now looks even more flat and spaced apart.![]()

black or white background nicer?

I prefer the white background. Scape is looking nice. I have a similar looking setup in my room. But I have not figured out a proper fertilizer dosing schedule. Care to share yours?
i dose ferka aqualizer and K 1 pump on alternate days. wanted to get wondergro but bought the wrong fert... blur me.
also dry ferts for KNO3 and KSPO4 weekly. lights 4x24W T5HO and in process of tuning CO2.

the center space looks a little odd
you may want to heighten the slope at the 2 back corners and deepen the slope in that "open path" in the middle
Typical Amano style.
just increased lights to 10hrs and now dose ferka k & aqualizer daily 1 pump.
plants seems to be settling and converting to emmerse form.
so when you all reckon i can remove the frogbits?
Cheers,
Melvin Lim
Do you have any pics on the growth? And are you using T5HO lighting with individual reflectors?
it's a aquasonic 4x24W T5HO set. i think it's a single reflector.
growth wise not so much diff from the 2nd set of pics above. melting of the japonica has stopped and can see the roots (at tank side) running deeper into the substrate. the tenellus is obviously turning emmerse. good pearling from the HC and japonica too. some of the japonica and tenellus leaves starting to have a reddish tinge to them.
minimal algae so far. only abit of hair like algae on tank glass a few days ago. scraped it out and no new ones growing.

Melvin Lim
This will look great once filled out and the plants have had time to mature.

The canvas is what you make it...
my tank now like champagne glass... pearling all over but got some hair algae appearing plus spot algae on rocks. only got worse when i removed some big frogbits leaving only a dozen small ones.
dosing ferka aquaz and balance K 1 pump daily with KNO3 10-15ppm PO4 2-3ppm twice a week. drop checker yellow yellow too.
good thing is HC almost cover the whole foreground already but sometimes get messed up by otos.
will post my update next week![]()

ok, here's a FTS.
just bought some nerite snails to combat brown and green spot algae. hair algae seems to be growing more and more in the HC.
NO3 15-20ppm
KH 5-6
GH 8
pH 6.2
temp 24
PO4 >2ppm

Hi Melvin, Its a very nice scape you got there. I can see you are very successful with your HC covering all your foreground. Mine not doing well at all. Maybe because mine is low-tech. Admire your courage to totally change your setup above. All the best to you & your tank.
With Humble Regards,
MartinTing
Do you have plenty of shrimps? Your water seems yellowish in your latest FTS.
Your HC foreground is a real success![]()
have some RCS and CRS in there. not many, about a dozen+ in total.
HC has some hair/thread algae growing, not too serious at the moment. feel like giving it a haircut to have more uniform growth. good idea?
the FTS was a rush shot. hope to have time to take a better pic after tomorrow's WC.![]()
