Hahaha... Due to space constraint, have to choose properly which my next pair is...
would be... When I'm back to work then have space for another pair... Already have a pair of A. Bit from Joe, and another pair on the way...

Do a 3 tier setup. Then more space already!

Here's my German bred specimen couple of years ago.

Thanks, but "kang-hu" (skills) drop already nowadays. Old liao, cannot stand infront of the tank with camera glued to the eye for too long without feeling restless.

Anyways, back to the apistos. I'm not sure if there are anymore apistos direct from Wilhelm in the market now. When he was still around, his elizabethae are very much redder then any of these pictures. I was lucky to chance upon a shipment in HK couple of years back. But of course, his fishes comes with a hefty price tag. SD$500 per pair.

    Re: Your Favourite Apistogramma!

Genes, the clarity of the shot is darn good! Will appreciate some pointers!

    Anyway, the female.

    WARNING: DWARF PUFFER

    Source: captive-aquatics

By the way, i bought a dwarf puffer recently thinking it looked cute. Its not at all when its in fighting mode. There was a showdown between the apisto and the tiny puffer a fraction of its opponent size. The puffer showed no signs of being afraid and even managed to nipped at the eliz's tail. Now the tail is slightly torn. Didn't know that the small creature is so big in stature. Kudos to it, but because of this, the puffer also went to jail, a small side tank.

Genes, any idea on how Wilhelm achieve such vivid coloured fishes? Selective breeding?

The best strain breed with the best. best and best. down the generation. just like how slaves were raised during the slavery days. they raise the slaves like cattle. btw, it was Ian of old KingFisher who taught me this theory. For this reason, they have the best runner LOLs..

Sounds like crystal red shrimp from C-grade years back, now become King Kong.

Yes, cull the weak ones, keep culling. In animal kingdom, the fittest survives and keep the core group trim and fit
