From the first video, the smaller piece flaring at the dicrossus should be female. the other one, not known.
    From the 2nd video, there's a possible 2F 1 M combo there.

The best way to find out is when they turn aggressive - the female's belly and throat turns intensely black/ashen and the bars connect to the black patch. In the male, the bar doesn't go all the way to the belly and he always looks slightly less intensely colored compared to the female, but his golden irids are slightly more widespread.

Yes it's a trifa. Apart from the telling marks, its face look very dffierent from what i used to keep before
It does look like a guttata to me.
Lesson learnt, colour can vary but markings stays.

    Re: Your Favourite Apistogramma!

This is really an interesting behavior! Never heard them feed on fishes as big as pygmy cory! I thought they would only prey on worms and small insects. Probably the cory forced its way into Adoketa's mouth?

Things are not looking good. The Cory is permanently stuck in its mouth and I can't remove it too.

    Re: Your Favourite Apistogramma!

Anyone has a male Adoketa to let go? I might have 3 females!

Also, if you are keen to get a pair of healthy adult breeding Apisto Kelleri(One of the two mouth brooding apistos) to try breeding them, do let me know also.

Am catering some space for some species.

Mark, you'll need to try open the adoketa's mouth and try remove/cut off the fins of your poor Corydoras.O

Hi Bernie, nice Papagei! How old are they?

Marle, you mean the male adoketa choked to death? Have you tried JZX? If they still have, you should be able to get per piece but chances of sexing them is a challenge. Good luck bro.

    Re: Your Favourite Apistogramma!

Hi all, thanks for the concern. The choked adoketa is good now. i have safely removed the stuck cory. I was jumping for joy after the "operation" was done.

    Ronwill gave some verbal assistance:

To save the glutton (what is it anyway??), hold it securely in a towel to minimize movement and injury (to you and the fish). Use a scissor with fine tapered blades and slip it in till you feel the hastatus's pectoral fins (yes, both have to go). Cut off pectorals or cut up body, whichever deemed necessary. Remove carcass, look at it, learn from it and move on.

Keep the glut in a smaller tank and dose with anti-bacterial meds for a day or two and observe it's conditions. To trigger feeding, bribe with live foods.

Get an assistant for the task if pride allows and don't forget to update post-op results.

Cutting up the hastatus and leaving half inside won't help much if the pectoral fins aren't removed. These lodged pieces might cause further injuries to the Nannacara's mouth and start an infection. The carcass will rot and don't expect it to just pop out by itself.

If you can, splice the upper half of the hastatus length-wise, into smaller pieces or whatever size you can manage.

Traumatic experience, no? Who said fish-keeping isn't exciting and yes, having the right tools will help, including a sharp pair of manicure scissors

It was instant relief for me and hopefully the fish. Now the fish is suffering a clamped fin on its side.. hopefully it'll recover.

The stuck remnants of the cory.
