hi guys,
i understand dat mh lights are e brightest light ever introduced in aquarium. wat r e drawbacks of using mh bulbs?i've read or heard frm sumwhere dat mh lights emits more blue spectrum dat encourages algae growth dramatically(hope i'm rite)

Hi Jumanji

That depends on the kelvin rating of the MH bulb....but what is true about MH is that, no doubt it can be suspended high above the waterline as compared to FL or PL lightsets, the heat produced is a whole lot higher as well.

Plant layout and choice will be critical as well as hard shadows will be casted by tall plants and plants around it will be shaded.

algae on which ever light, MH - PL - FL will thrive if the fert regime, balance, and good water changing practice is not correct.

think about this : plants do like some part of the light spectrum more
but when MH is pumping out so much more of EVERYTHING than other lights on the market, the end result is that MH will come out on top
