Does anyone have any suggestions for a biotope for shrimps?
There seems to be more info on Sulawesi shrimps than the more common red cherry.
Am I right to say that since CRS is a mutation of BDS they should be happy in the same environment? But what is the natural habitat for BDS in the first place?

    Regards

CRS are a mutaion of a bublebee/bee shrimp combination. Both species originate from S.E. China. Unheated, roomtemp. water, Rotala, Blyxa, are possibilities.
This site http://www.my-mac.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1361 has a big listing of regional plants

CRS Biotope is the easiest, they were all born and raised in captivity, four glass walls is their natural habitat, haha.
That said, I seriously doubt if they are able to survive in their natural habitats any more, all the generations of selective (in)breeding is sure to have
taken a toll on their survivability.

That said, anything with good water quality and in the 25C - 27C range with lots of places to hide makes them happy, mosses and "Mini Pellia" are the flora of choice in most of the shrimp tanks I've seen.

As far as I know sub-tropical shrimp (Bee, bumblebee, RCS ,Amano) prefer temps somewhat cooler, more like 20C-24C. I've kept my RCS outside for two winters now, in plastic 60L cement buckets, temps dropped to -10C for several days, it has frozen for weeks. Most RCS were fine, even under ice, had some casualties, about 20%. My finding is that (at least for RCS) temps. above 5C are no problem, beneath that things get difficult for them.
