If you do not wish to seperate them, maybe you can try having some java moss in the tank?
Java moss provides cover as well as infusoria (as food) for the fries.

I had 2 batches of sparkling gourami fries died on me...
How to care for these fries?
The 1st time I left the father to fend for them as it chased away others that approached. But 2 days later all disappeared, I suspect they were eaten...
The 2nd time I removed them to a separate container but 2 days later they all perished...![]()

put in some floating pllants so the fries could hide

Floating tank? Interesting... I should have done tat as all my guppy fries perish after i put them in the small still tank. Up till date, not too sure the cause. However my current tank very small (1ft cube) How big is the floating tank and how much is it?
Can i put the quarantine fish or the pregnant guppy in the floating tank as well? I always wonder should i seperate the pregnant guppy to another tank by itself but i only got still tank without bubbles or filter. I did not do so as i am afraid it may do more harm than good lor. What u guys suggest?
well there are two types of "floating tanks" around and both CANNOT be used as quarantine tanks for the one reason that they share the same tank water as the main tank
The easiest type is not really a tank at all its a fine net held by a box wire frame held by suction cups to the inner side of the tank so the fries are safe from predation...
The second type is made of plastic but works on the same principle held by suction cups with tiny holes or grilles so that the main tank water can enter and exit...
Both types are relatively cheap think not more that $5...
I think the pregnant guppy can be placed in there till the fries come out but the problem is what if this induces unwanted stress on the fish... so thats the downside... then again I've not bred guppies before only bettas so all the guppy experts in here should be able to answer your query...
Hope this helps![]()
