would definitely go for it if its available easily here in singapore... but i doubt so.
cheers!
Many aquirists you gravel in most cases but works alot better is number 16 sand used for sandblasting. Its inert and looks basicly like river sand and much cheaper. I find it works fantastic, You can get 100 pounds at any hardware store for about 8.00 dollars.

Good ideal, then we don't have a beach anymore.

I doubt so for beach sand. You might see your freshwater shrimps seeing stars and a step closer to heaven.
agree... and a tedious process to have to soak, clean and sun before using....
cheers!

James,
I think those are marketed as the Lapis Sand in Singapore.
We get them in 50 lbs bags though, about 22.7 kg.
Our cost is about SGD$25 or about USD$16 at the going exchange of about 1.54.
Its what most local aquarist use and has been described by most as "cheap and good"!
But we have a bigger mark-up here from shipping and storage cost.

I'm sure sandblasting sand is available for purchase here. Look up Abrasives stores in our Yellow pages.
Problem is, can't be sure what contaminants are present in the sand, and it may not be worth the pain to wash and treat it.
