New to this site, but not new to the hobby. Been keeping critters in tanks since 1948. A zoologist for 50 years, I'm retired now – so have more time to fill my life [and home] with fish tanks.
I know a bit about a lot and a lot about a bit, but I don't know nearly enough yet, so I am here to learn. Hoping to make some friends along the way...

Even in the mid 50s when I really got serious about aquaria, choice of fish and critters was very limited, and the equipment had hardly moved on from Victorian times. My first 'tropical' tank was slate bottomed, with a tiny paraffin heater under it supplying heat – nightmare..!
