    Hi piggy

you are referring to the MH lights right?.....

you question is alittle too general...are you referring to the built or are you referring to MH lights in general?

if you are referring to built, Arcadia is a pretty reputable brand who have been offering aquatic lightings in the industry for quite sometime. I have seen the Series 3 myself and I must say that i am quite impress. The very big plus point is the two FL. It can be used as tank maintenence lighting. The other big plus is the in build timer and if you pay alittle more, you can have the digital timer.

    David,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the misinterrupt, actually I am having 4x36w FL lightnings, wanted to upgrade to 6x36w FL instead. Then I came onto the website, found the series 3, thinking of upgrading to that, thats why, seeking for advice. Thanks and best regards.

    Hi piggy

before you actually upgrade your lightings to 6x36watts FL, do consider the 2x 150watts MH lights seriously. The total wattage of your consideration places you at a gross total of 216 watts. But because it is an FL, cost of mantain it in terms of bulb replacement can be a costly affair over time...what i mean is that FL needs to be changed ever 8 to 12mths while MH at 2 years. intensity is another issue as FL tends to loss light intensity through its life span while MH does not. Best of all the cumulative light intensity of 6 FL will not be able to match the intensity of 2 MH.

The only setback i see about MH is the initial cost of purchase should you consider aquaria brands and not the household MH sets.

    David,

Am I right to say that if not becos of the price of the Series 3, is actually perfect for me to have the Series 3? I dont mind paying that amount of cash cos actually looking forward to a long term investment rather than short term.

By the way, what aquatic MH lights do you recommand? How much and where can I get it? Do they have difference like different kind of spectrum lightings? Will they be sudden bloom of algae if I switch to MH?

I will be grateful if you could furnish me with the advantage and disadvantage. If I get the SERIES 3, andone out there will like to buy my JBJ 2x36w lightnings set w/o FL tubes>[]

    hi piggy

if you dont mind the investment for the series 3, its a good buy...other then that it will be bioplast. As for MH bulb kind and rating, perhaps sherwin is the better person to answer your question as he gets the bulbs for me.

As for algae, the sudden increase in light intensity will give raise to some algae growth. Reduce fert dosage and execute more water change....after awhile things will return to normal.

Cryptos may start to melt as the environment has changed.

    David,

Thanks for the advice. I have decided to get the 3 series, but I am checking from Uk how much are they selling, then I will get from Uk instead of SIN.

    Checkerboard,

Sorry cant exchange for JBJ lightnings, so you still want the Sunta brand? If you arent, I am selling it to another party.

    Hey Piggy,

If you can, try buying from Hong Kong, they are also very cheap there. Quite common amongst most of the LFS. If I recall correctly, the 4 ft set was only about just under S$1000 (at Fortune) whilst Qian Hu quoted me S$1600+.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

IMO mh are the better lighting system for planted tanks
in the long run you will appreciate the choice you made with mh over fl.
your plants will also reward you with growth and lush bloom for the effort you made to give them the right light source.
if you have not made your choice to purchase you lights you can message me and we can share info.
