what is size of your tank?
Hi all, wondering if anyone ever transported a setup planted tank , minus off the water? Wondering if it will crack or give way.
I will be shifting house in couple of months. need to know if i need to remove my setup and shift the empty tank or not.
Thanks

Usually movers will prefer moving an empty tank.

Hi bro, managed to shift 2ft tank last time during my moving of house. So far, okay. Below is what I did:
Net all fishes and shrimps and placed in a big plastic bag with tank water. I got the big bags from LFS like c328 last time. Collected more water in another big bag. After that, I drained all the remaining water so that all that's left are the wet substrate and plants - basically the hard scapes. I placed wet crumpled news paper inside the empty tank to retain moisture and cover the tank with plastic wrap. During the transporting itself, I carefully placed the tank (you will need assistance for this as the tank with wet substrate is still heavy) in a huge hard plastic baby bath tub (similar to this http://img.en.china.cn/0/0,0,218,183...6,4fdd0584.jpg - i have it last time for my son or if you have those big plastic storage containers, also can - as long as the tank can fit in and the container is strong enough to hold the tank) and used the tub/container to carry the tank using its handles/rims. This way, there's reduced stress to the tank. After transferred to the new location, positioned the tank and slowly placed back the water and fishes plus aged water that I had prepared in the new place. There had been losses in the fishes maybe due to stress but only few. The tank will be a bit dusty for the first few days because of the slight disturbance in the top layer of substrate - this can't be helped, but after several water changes and filtration, it should come back to its original state.
I've done this method twice already. Since yours is only 1.5ft, it should be more possible. Hope this will help you.
