I totally do not know how to set up the filter. Yes I know! Bangs head. The brands Mobydick and its an overhead one. Once you plug it in wall, it is switched on and there is also a light but light has off/on switch. I decided not to use overhead filter and just let it lie there but after only three hours, it was SO hot. So found out that these types of filters must be Submerged.

    Can someone please help?

First I want to try to set up the filter and if it doesnt work, get rid of the filter part. The qianhu man told me JUST cut the wire. Then I am wondering where the electricity goes to. Dissipate into thin air? Anyway some pics to explain...

    1st pic - Filter
2nd pic - whole set up
3rd pic - some box like thing that protrudes below water. Am sure it is of some use.
4th pic - Some things that I am not sure if it belongs
5th pic - blur pic of the tank

    Thanks so much in advance

Re: Forgot how to set up filter

That looks like an overhead filter to me. The powerhead in #1 should be submerged in water, maybe near the bottom of your tank. There should be a pipe-like attachment which draws water from the powerhead output and directs it into the overflow box.

Logic: if you place the powerhead above the waterline, where is the water going to come from?
    Yecch!

Thank you Desewer!!!!!! Will go try it now. Have actually given up and bought an internal filter...but still will try now! Sounds logical now that you put it this way...
