    Hi bros,

Does anyone know how much does a 3ft and 2.5ft ADA tanks cost? Where can these tanks be purchased in Singapore?

    Re: ADA tanks

what's the difference between a non-frills e.g. ocean free tank vs ADA? glass is glass right? seems like the brand there means I can buy several more tanks of other brands.

    can someone enlighten me?

have you even seen an ocean free tank and ADA tank before you make these comments ?
There are different type of glass for aquarium use. Tank made with low-iron content glass will be more expensive but the clarity is better.

Glass is not exactly glass. There are different grades of glass that produces different clarity and color. Do a search online and you'll get tons of information.

    Re: ADA tanks

The clarity in the glass, low iron glass tends to have less reflection than the rest, especially good for taking photograph or viewing. Is worth every single cent if you're really serious into aquascaping. Secondly the silicone is really minimum for those good glass make as compare to the normal one and they are usually braceless also.

    Re: ADA tanks

Different, low iron glass tank will give you clear view and normal tank will give you greenish color casting. We are not just want to grow plant or raise fish/shrimp right? You need to see it to appreciate it. Of course price is probably too expensive for most of the people (me included). An alternative is CADE, it is as clear as older version of ADA tank with almost half the price.

With shoe you can walk, without shoe you also can walk. Which one will you choose?
Normal tank with green tint colour, low iron tank without green tint colour and is clearer and more comfortable to view, which one will you choose? Normal tank is just like you are being force to wear a pair of green tint spectacle to view your tank, the colour of the plant are loosing its rich colour, especially the red colour plant.

No, don't get me wrong. The ingredient used to make them is different. Be it Rolex and ADA tank. The glass (ADA tank) and movement (Rolex) is what makes them special and poles apart from their lesser peer.

Certainly, there are value in having ADA tank. I agree. The resale value is higher for ADA tank with no dings and scratches. Likewise for Rolex

    Re: ADA tanks

That is why I said the purpose (should add for some people) is not just to rear fish or to grow plants. It is for visual enjoyment as well thus clarity become one of the important point.

In other word if your purpose of having tank just to rear fish or to grow plant then you are right it is the same.

Same with watch, if the purpose of having watch is to show status, then casio and Rolex isn't the same

    Re: ADA tanks

This is becoming an ADA tank advertisement

Actually the difference is quite marginal for small tanks with thinner glass, anything lesser than 5mm. The green tint seen in normal/economical glass tank starts to get really annoying when it's 8mm and above. My 12mm thick 4ft normal glass tank looks like a car window (laminated with solar film).

Post 2 answered original poster's question.
The rest is about watches, shoes and why ADA tanks cost so much.
I don't regret buying ADA tanks-they really look nicer. I however regret scratching them. [argh]

And it applies more to their new low iron glass tanks! Yes yes micro scratches... but I got a gut feeling that over time, they will be very visible to your naked eyes. Unless you do not need to scrub your tank walls at all
