Hi again. Operated my 'old buddy' today. Only 200W and the wiring connectors are different from what they showed. Need your help see if you could help identify whether use able or not. If yes, how to connect? Also include pictures of my TEM, hope it helps.

Re: HELP : Dophin Mini Chiller

    Hello,

you can try connecting the yellow and black wire on the middle or right bundle to your cooler.. and if you have a meter at home you can try measuring the voltage and current to see how much power it is providing (if any)... if no power you may have to short the 2 pins on the left bundle to keep the PSU 'on'...
if there is power and your chiller is still not moving, then i am afraid it might be damaged...
since there are many components in your chiller which needs to be powered, the connection of those wires might be confusing and even more difficult to explain (esp through words)

I thought so...I just hope there's no "POOF...." or worst "KABOOM...!" in the process.... Will try most likely Saturday and let you know the outcome. Let just say if it doesn't move, short which pin? It has 2 sets of connectors tied together with indication P8 (with orange, red, yellow, blue and black wire) and P9 (with black, white and red wire).

Hi again guys...not very good news...it's still running but just brought down my tank temperature by 1 - 2 degrees. It could do better with it's original power supply...do you have any idea why? Amp supplied insufficient maybe?

Re: HELP : Dophin Mini Chiller

    Hi,
Are you able to measure the power?
Maybe its not supplying as much as it can take... Or maybe it is supplying too much such that the TEC is overheated... haha

Re: HELP : Dophin Mini Chiller

May I know what to measure? Watt or Amp? I dont have a multimeter with me but i think i can borrow 1. And the overheating thing, how would i know if it's happening?

Re: HELP : Dophin Mini Chiller

you can try measuring voltage and current(amps) and multiply it together to get your power(watts)...
As for overheating.. guess it is hard to tell unless you open it up or feel that the exhaust air is hotter then before...

Re: HELP : Dophin Mini Chiller

Measuring from the 12V DC output, right? But cant be, 12V need to multiply by about 16A to get 200W as stated on the psu. I'll try borrow a multimeter tomorrow and measure. The fan is blowing hot air for sure but not sure if it's hotter or not.

Re: HELP : Dophin Mini Chiller

Ya measure from output... i doubt you psu can supply 16A...
might want to upgrade your psu... but dont think it is worth the investment... might as well get a new chiller... hahah

yes the fan ought to be blowing hot air or else it will end up as a heater instead of cooler.. hahaha...

You gotta be kidding me, bro...from what i know, our house current here max is only at 13A. Anyway, about the cooler to heater thing, ya, I've read about it. I'll reconfirm tomorrow. Thanks again bro deon....Cheers!

Re: HELP : Dophin Mini Chiller

you mean from your mains? ya usually they limit the current that is why you need a psu to step up the current and step down the voltage.. haha

    hope you can fix it...

Hi guys, my TEM just broke down again. Feels like the psu might be over heated as it's a bit hot. Any explanation to this?

Hi bro, you may want to consider to give up you TEM & get a new chiller. Consider your home safety aspects.

Re: HELP : Dophin Mini Chiller

A refrigerant based chiller is the one you should get. The TEM chiller breaking down might indicate that it is overworked. If you would want to get a refrigerant chiller, get 1 model higher than what you want to get due to our climate.

    Hope this helps!
