    Hi eddy,

The way i see it, i think your TEC is damaged and usually it is beyond repair because once the peltier overheats, it pushes itself apart and breaks down.. but if electricity can pass through it then it should indicate that it is in working order... you might want to try another psu of lower power which i suspect is providing more power than needed...

however i guess it would be more cost effective to get a new chiller in the end and also save alot of trouble (unless you are really emotionally attached to this chiller... haha)...

Actually, I'm just not satisfied as I've just bought this second hand unit few months back which costs me quite a sum. Will try getting another psu as the current 10 year old confirmed not working. But could this psu really be operated 24/7?

It should not be a problem for a good PSU to operate constantly especially since the chiller will not be consuming power 24/7 but in intervals..

However I suggest you find out the power requirement of your chiller first and not rush to get a new PSU as it may be over/under powered...

Bro deon, I think you get it wrong. This TEM unit runs 24/7. Not like chiller, will cut off once required temperature achieved. It's not able to control the temperature but just chill the water to the max. according to it's ability.

    Ahh... no wonder...
thought that your TEC has temperature control... anyways if your previous PSU can work on your chiller fine... i think a good new one should be able to handle it...
the problem now is that you don't know if you are supplying too much or too little power because either will reduce your chiller's cooling capacity... the only way is to measure the power output of the one that you used(which is spoilt?) previously and try to judge from there...
so i guess the best way now is to ask the manufacturer how much power input (not PSU power rating) it needs...
    hope it helps

Ah...now I understand you better..... Ok, I'll ask my electrical friend from my work place figure things out for me and I'll get a suitable power supply for it. The original has 2 individual supply for each TEC unit. One down, i can still measure from the other. Got a feeling it's gonna work out this time...thanks bro...
