My greatest interest in fish hobby is to breed them.

You can try to see if they take the mash up sinking pellets.

Boon or microworm will be good alternatives. Congrats.

Thanks guys. The batch is around 20-30 fry. I'm pretty surprised by the spawn too since I feed only sinking pellets to the pair. The male is one of a wild pair a bro here helped me hand-carry over from Hong Kong. The female is a replacement from another bro after the first female died.

The recent cool weather must have helped. My female F1s are in their breeding dress too. Male's been chasing and nibbling them.

Good luck Eugene hope your fish spawns too. I hope i can keep the fry alive.
do i get a free pair when the F1s grow up?![]()

Yes YiXiang if i can get them to grow up.
haha cool!
Anyhow, your pair is beautiful...much more colourful than the pair i ended up getting (I got a pair of A. diplotaenia "Novo Airao"). What conditions were you keeping yours in to induce them to spawn?

Congrats! Post pics if possible!

Hehe hard to get pics. To admit I've been neglecting them of late. The tank walls are full of algae.
Its a planted 1ft tank. Ada africana powder as substrate(the shop was out of the normal version that day) and sera super peat in the hang on filter. The female dug a tunnel under a flat slab of rock and spawned there. Must have been the rainy weather recently.
the low ph must have contributed significantly tooI guess I can forget about spawning my pair as it's in a 1ft cube iwagumi using lapis sand and no special ph lowering methods

For once I'm glad of the strands of algae in my tank as the fry seem to be finding a source of food in there.

The recent weather have been proving fruitful for some of us!

Eugene ,your diplos spawn too?

Nope. I have stopped breeding them. Those i have now are my F1s from my previous adult pair. My plecos spawned.
