DIY thermostat?

anyway to do one of these? I see all these heaters with thermostats under < $30 but you go out there to get one and it costs you $100 - $300 for one..

I assume the thermostat is for liquid. You can try Sim Lim Tower, basement. There's a shop that specialised in thermal control. I'll try to find the name card if I can remember where I put it.
