Amazing snail...... bought 3 from Clementi to help with my MTS infestation but now I prob have > 10 running around! They are really good at their job....my MTS infestation problem see improvement within a week and since then, I have not seen a single MTS crawling around!

Since I am decommissioning my tank in 2 weeks time, just thought to take some pictures for remembrance.

Just to share some pics I took with my panny LX3....

Close up of the assassin in bubble bee coat...

    Assassin earning it's keep....

One of the side effects.....battlefield littered with empty MTS shells

Taking a rest under the shade after a hard day's work...

    Back to work!

    Very nice!
I thought they cannot handle large infestations...but seeing your battlefield is quite a sight!

I bought 2 as "security guards" (destroyed all the pond snail invaders before that by crushing them one by one already) to patrol the tanks for any snail pests but so far (due to the lack of new plants) they're just eating shrimp pellets since there are no other snails to snack on...

    Hmm, just a question,
Do they breed easily?? Like how ramshorn breed.

    Re: Anetome helenas (Assassin snails)

They breed, but not as fast as the pest snails that we want them to eat. I started out with 5 pieces in my 4x2x2 tank more than 1/2 a year ago. Now I still probably have under 20 pieces in the tank itself visible at any one time (probably more hiding/burrowed). When I did filter maintenance recently I found some pieces there also though.

    Re: Anetome helenas (Assassin snails)

yeah, they breed with those tiny white eggs that they deposit on the DW and sometimes on the tank wall
As mentioned by Illumnae, they do not breed as fast as the MTS and I suspect there will be an equilibrium whereby the dwindling food source (MTS) will limit their population.

Anyway, they are much nicer looking than MTS...haha

do they attack nerites? or pose any potential danger to shrimps/shrimplets?
have quite a bad pond snail infestation going on at the moment

Don't think they eat shrimp. I bought one almost a year ago and now have two!? My shrimp tank used to be overun with MTS now its overrun with shrimplets instead.

Hmm, then it's a good pet to have in your tank.
Able to breed, control population of pest snails, nice looking pattern.
Too bad my planted is for ramshorn.
Maybe I can put in my betta tank.

some have reported nerite attacks, but so far my nerites are untouched despite the lack of other snails anymore. I think they now eat detritus/fish food

I keep them in my CRS tank.
They are practically harmless to shrimps.
However, they will feast on dead shrimps.

I only know Yishun Y618 and Biotope at AMK have them

Just be VERY SURE to check all your snails before you leave...both me and my friend ended up picking an empty shell before but the shops were very nice to let us exchange

so long as ur nerites is about 2 times their size should be safe.

these assassin snails are one of the fastest snails I have ever seen but I seriously doubt it can outrun the shrimps...
