A 18w or 24w PL tube should be sufficient.
During cycling of your tank, dun add in the activated carbon as beneficial bacteria needs ammonia to survive and multiply. Only add in activated carbon when u find your shrimps die of no apparent reasons.

hi all,
i am planning to rear some high grade CRS, at least SS.. and hopefully into breeding them..
here is my plan,
2ft x 1ft x 1.5ft (height)
ADA aquasoil amazonia2 (powder)
Eheim canister 2213, planning to put only sponge, ceremic rings, and biohome.
resun cl280 chiller/ cl450 chiller (have not decide yet, as i am still searching for 2nd hand chillers now..)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Questions:
1) pls advice lighting, i will be keeping mainly only moss ( FL, PL, T5?) + (which light tube is recommended?)
2) is activated carbon needed to make the water clear, or will it cause pH problems

Personally, i will use FL tube.
The low light may control algae better.
Other plants you can keep with CRS are...
Pelia / Bolbatis [Congo Fern] / Fissiden
Good luck and cheers.

Is Riccia recommended to go with CRS?

thanks all for the replies, it has been of great help..
1 more question: do u guys recommend undergravel filter system? or can i do without it since i have a eheim 2213 canister as fiter..

It depends on you. Mostly pple just used a sponge to cover the inlet of the canister filter. But if you had gone through silane's webby, you should know the advantage of linking the UGF to a canister filter.
