Anyone participate in Aquarama 2009 planted tank competition?

Aquarama competition is just too commercial. Nothing beneficial for non-commercial participants to compete with commercial participants.

I believe there will be a few sponsors if someone wants to represent AQ for this competition. Robert, want to give it a shoot?

I would definitely agree with this point on the competitions gear more towards for commercial participants.

Go for it Robert. I will go and support you and buy your red bull.........I foresee it will be very tiring.

Commercial or not, I believe you guys should enter the competition. At the very least, you could gain experience from the event. When I was in the RC hobby, I did just that, entered an RC competition together with my friends to see where our skill would put us at. I managed to last until the 'E' mains race and came in 7th in that category. I managed to enter a couple more race but due to my shift work, I can't join in the other race until the day I retire from that hobby. If you don't try, you never know.

I am considering a partial sponsorship of the competition for all AQ members (up to 6 teams) if there are any interest. The sponsorship will include the S$100 registration fees as all as a portion of the plants and decoration from designated merchants. This is to help defray the cost of entry as well as letting members having some fun and a go at winning some of the attractive cash prizes.

Also, I may be able to make available diatom filters to ensure AQ teams have the best clarity in their setup.

Any comments or thoughts on this? I've also added a poll on this.

When is the aquarama show? is it 30 and 31st May? I'm shifting on 30th May Hope my oc will give me half day off to allow me to drop by on 31st May... anyone going there? Hope to meet some of you and other familiar faces there

Benny, very good! You folks really contribute alot to this planted hobby. $100 sponsorship on registration and plants. This really helps as long time permit.

All, you should take part if you can. Else you will see less and less LFSs and merchants going into this hobby. It will only make plants, equipments and other tools more scared

Ok. Managed to get the green light from Aquarama for submission. Details will be up shortly. We only have 4 slots allocated to us. Quickly find some 'kaki' to prepare for registration.
