yeah we can come out for some teh tarik sometime.....but i can't bring you for the plant collection trip yet as that place sort of 'belong' to my friend ....
but you can have as many moss/pelia from me as you like......!

there are many types of moss but yes, those that we collected are indeed Spore moss...but i am not very sure about the colors differences you mentioned though...i guess we will just have to find it out...
yeap. you are right. i had "follow" your post at mac sometime. it is so knowledgeable for me. like the style you make the journal. fun and humour.
sure sure..tks for the moss and pelia first..hihi...

Re: Low light & Low Cost 2ft Tank

    Hi Limz...thanks.
yes, after we "harvest" the Spore Moss, you can just keep them with those soil intact. in my case, i just put those moss in a big crate and keep them moist (water them every day), they can stay fresh for weeks and some even started to grow!
but if you want to put them in your tank, you need to wash the soil clean, as those soil will cloud your tank water and also invite algae!

    Hi Eddy....thanks.
    yup...300-400 probably 500kg...who knows!!
every trip we figured we can take 200kg of the rock...and so far we went 3 times...so that's about 500-600kg! i split those rock we collected in few places, some in my friends house.

the following photos show the "rock store" in my house:

the tiles are 1ftx1ft...so you guys can rough estimate how much rock there! and that's only parts of my "stock"...

i segregate those rocks by color, size and types....
the color of the rock will turn into black once in the water...except for the reddish one....

when i free...i should probably take some close up shot of some nice individual rock to show you guys....

and here's the rock collecting site....but now no more!
the mining work has destroy the whole place and it is hard to find those big pieces anymore!

    rocks in my car trunk...

hmmm....perhaps i should open a shop just to sell rock for aquascaping...LOL....

Re: Low light & Low Cost 2ft Tank

that's a good stock pile or rock there.

Just got a pair of 3ft tanks, and thinking of where to get nice rocks and driftwood.

Anyone with an idea where to do so that's less hurting to the place?
Maybe go SG moss hunting too.

Re: Low light & Low Cost 2ft Tank

Hi Colin...i'm very eager to post my FTS too , but i think there are some rules in IAPLC that we have to observe. so i'm afraid that FTS is not possible until Oct.

i think the aquascaping environment in Spore is very good (at least a lot better than JB - where i live), you guys have all the nice LFS around who offer a great variety ot plants, fishes and equipments. i also see many people here who is very enthusiastic in aquascaping. so all the essential elements are already here..... hence i'm expecting good results from you guys in no time!

cya around...will post FTS when the time is right!

    cheers

Re: Low light & Low Cost 2ft Tank

wow I didnt know that Singapore moss can be grown submerged... I was using them for my vivarium... thanks for the tip think I'll try submerging em... by the way we need to wash them of the soil first rite otherwise contaminants might get in the water??? Also how do u anchor them to the tank soil substrate coz I'm sure they will float....

Bro my recently tank has singapore moss but i only rinsed the soil off. making use of the small pebbles to hold it to the ground.

but some of them didn't have any pebbles but they sank right down

I tried that before. I must say that the singapore moss is nice but the attached mud really makes the tank stinks.
