I was out looking for morels this weekend, and found an amazing looking piece of what i believe to be old red cedar. It's completely hallowed by rot and the years, it must be 15 years old, was nearly falling apart. It hasn't got that stench that Cedar has normally, it's almost got no smell other then just woodyness. I've had it boiling nonstop since saturday night, leeching the acid from it quite well. I plan to cure this and remove all traces of matter from it since its quite moist now on the surface (the now dead mosses that were clinging to it).

My question though, will a piece this old once cured, be ok to put in a fishtank? I plan on changing my filter every few days/week to help clean out the water, Part of this was laying seperate in the woods nearby, and i cut that in half to see if there was a strong smell or a funk, it was clean and oderless so i suspect this will be in good shape.

Has ANYONE seen a tank with cedar driftwood or aged pieces?
