Just a suggestion, You can get a clip on light and small HOF from NA. I feek there got more choice and easy to see. He has a dynmax 28led one but i was told it is just equal to 5w. Might be too weak for plant to grow well. if possible try to have a better lighting incase you plan to grow some medium lighting demand plant.

I m curious, why you do not wish to fill up more water to the tank.

Maybe you should get the light and filter up 1st and then add plant then follow by fishes...

    Re: Nano low tech tank

Well, actually I've top up much more water than previous post, guess it didn't look so.

How do I go about choosing a suitable HOF since the smallest filters 80L/hr, is it alright?
Thats what delaying me getting a filter..
    Hmm I'm using a 10W PL light 6hrs/day now.

Hi, i don't think your HC will survive. it needs co2 so i won't even try in a low tech set up. hehe.

i have a similar tank, but not really doing planted. using nana and moss on wood. they don't really need much maintenance. there are quite a lot of small HOF - ocean free, boyu, sunsun HBL, aleas... between 150/hr to 250/hr.

Yup I'm giving it a last try before moving on to ferns etc.

I've read threads of overkill filter so I'm wondering which would be suitable for my 2litre tank.

Is ehiem liberty 100 suitable? Please advise. Kinda new to this.

the flowrates are adjustable so no worries about buying a 250l/hr HOF.

I used to have a 5" cube tank on my office desk, 250l/hr HOF, mosses and cherry red shrimps, pretty low maintenance

    good luck with your quest..

    Java moss on metal mesh
    Nana
    Java fern

    Fauna
    2 x brigittae
2 x clown killie (they seem to fit in well!)
    1 x otto
    1 x blue shrimp

    Equip
Filter Dolphin H-80 (I've finally got my filter and lightings!)
Lights Aqua Zonic 11W FL 8hrs aday
    Tank 18x15x14cm

It looks kinda brown due to soil movement, will clear up by tomorrow

    Re: Nano low tech tank

i have a question to ask.
Why you chose to have just 1 for Otocinclus and blue shrimp

if i am you, i will stick to one species of fish. That is keep 5-10 Boraras brigittae.

I got the oto as the cleaning agent.
Also wanted to give shrimp a try and this particular one was pregnant when I got it from a LFS.
Unfortunately it gave birth in a goldfish tank when this tank was renovating...

Clown killies and brigittae seems to get along well, as I wanted a variety in my "self sustaining tank"
Hopefully I'm one step closer to my goal now..
