I am visiting Singapore from Canada for Aquarama next month - very exciting! I am hoping to buy some freshwater shrimp as they are almost non-existent in Canada or are of very poor quality. I currently have a 15 gal with 23 CRS (grade A). Our local water is not the best for them however so I'm not sure if I will have any success breeding them. Our water has a ph of 7.8 and is very well buffered. All our tanks in Canada have to be heated because of our extreme winter temperatures. That being said, I'm wondering what other shrimp are available in Singapore that might do better with these water conditions - sulawesi?? Are these as very difficult to keep alive?
If anyone has any tips, advice or suggestions of what is available I would love to hear from you. If there are any retail stores I should visit or anyone selling CRS or any shrimp privately?
In Singapore, we do have a range of common shrimps ranging from Neo-caridina to caridina such as green shrimp, yellow shrimp, cherry, snowball, sakura, sulawesi and CRS available from B grade to SSS.
I think it would be best for you to contact Silane as he has a good range of shrimps for you to choose from. But I am not sure whether you could bring out from Singapore as in Singapore we do have this AVA to check on import n export of live stock. Perhaps, Silane could advise you on that.

Haha there are heaps of shrimps that do well in those pH conditions but unfortunately CRS is not one of them
Most neocaridinas do well in hard water and some caridinas do to.
Its easier if you could tell us what shrimps you are interested in. That way individuals on the forum could tell you if they have them for sale or where you could buy them
It seems that the best choice would be any shrimp from sulawesi. I do have the water conditions for them. I also like some of the caridinas - dark green, tiger, any of the bee shrimp and the cardinals. I may have to find a way to lower my ph for the caridinas species. I'd like to bring back several different varieties. They will be kept in their own tank to avoid any x-breeding. Are sulawesi snails available in Singapore?
