My PL light for my 2 ft tank seems to be getting hotter.

Does the tube get hotter as it ages?
Does that mean it is getting inefficient?
How often should a tube be changed (after so many days or so many lighted hours)?

you can use a fan to cool it a little.

as the tubes gets older, they emit less light. which mean less efficient. usually, tubes are changed after about 9~12 months depending on your light requirement.

    Re: PL light getting hotter

i compare a new tube wif a old , the old one will appear yellowish compare to a brand new ( Bright White light )

i change when they turn yellowish or like tawauboy said .... about 9 months
    to 1 year.

Also need to see your plants ...if they doing ok then you may find it ok not to change.

No difference that I can see. Just the upper surface feels much hotter. I might replace the tube and see if there is a difference.

    Thanks for replies.
