    Hi,

Need to ask some opinion here. Is it reccomended to put any schooling fish(tetras) in a 1 ft tank?If so which are the suitable ones?and going by the 1" per gallon i suppose the most i can have is 3-4?

Get a school of Trigonostigma espei. They do not grow large like the harlequin rasbora and schools tightly. Go for a school of 6pcs in your 1ft. Another note, be sure to read up on how to identify espei from harlequins because they can look the same to the untrained eyes. Good luck.

My 6 neon tetras in the 1 foot tank schooled tightly all the time when they are the only occupants. Then one day, I decided to add in 6 white cloud mountain minnows. From then on, the 2 type of fishes chased each other around and it became one big mass (and mess) in the small tank since now I can find fish at any corner of the tank at any time.

Hi, IMO Tetra will be too big for a 1 feet tank as they can grow to about 2 cm.

Would suggest Boraras brigittae as they are smaller and look very nice when in a group.

Boraras brigittae do not school. I had 100pcs in my 3ft and they swarm the tank like flies.

Hi, knew that, but if in a 1 feet tank, they would not have room to do so and thus giving the effect of schooling... hee hee..

my boraras schooled in my 1ft tank. They probably had the aggressive pair of apistos to scare them into schooling though.

I'd recommend ember or ruby tetras for a 1ft tank schooling fish

The only time mine schooled was when i put my hand into the tank with a sponge to clean the glass.

Will certainly advise to get ember tetras due to their colours and schooling nature.
The role of master and servant begin to cloud in the water..

Hardly the correct way of fishkeeping, though..
Currently keeping many wild betta species and other anabantoids.
