hi bro, what do u mean by "A small air pump driving a sponge filter, sponge removed"...does that mean that it's jus like airpump with air stone since u got no media?
Decided to try to grow the baby brine shrimp to adult size again and this time i managed to keep them alive til now ( 8 days already and still active). Looking into the 1 ft tank, i can see that some of the brine shrimps are already like 3-4mm of size, whitish in color. Some people might want to try this, so i just share the information over here.
Equipments:
- I used a 1ft tank to grow the brine shrimp
- I hatch the bbs first, then i transfer bbs to the tank
- A small air pump driving a sponge filter, sponge removed
- The flow of the air bubble adjusted to a very very slow pace, just enough to create a mini circulation
Salt water:
- Use those coarse aquarium salt selling in LFS, do not use kitchen/table salt
- Added epsom salt , ratio of salt to epsom 10:1
- Added a little baking soda
Food:
- Mainly yeast, a little (1/10 teaspoon) mixed with 25ml water
- Water that used to wash the rice
- feed them twice a day
bbs:
- 0.2g for abt 15 liter tank

Something like below, don't put any filter media inside as it would trap the baby brine shrimp. Adjust the air flow to a very minimum.

After 12-13 days, some brine shrimps have grown to the size comparable to those sold in the LFS, except they are whitish in color. The size ranging from 2-3 mm to 5-6 mm. Probably due to the yeast that i fed them.
Some snacks for my apisto, they fight with the gourami for the brine shrimp
Not really much effort if anyone asked, just feed once or twice a day. No WC.
I left my bbs in the hatchery for a week plus and to my surprise I found that the leftovers have grown bigger and whitish....going to try transferring the bbs to a bigger container and see if they'll survive and grow bigger....

Eman, maybe you are using marine salt that's why they can survived longer.
Quite a number of brine shrimps dying off , probably due to the hot weather. Remaining bb should be able to last for quite a few days.
Discovered some of them already have egg sac under their belly. Too bad the water condition deteriorated.
so is there any food we can feed brine shirmps other than yeast? anything we can feed to retain their nutritional value and that they remain red red?
I think feeding yeast should be good enough. After scooping the adult brine shrimp out of the salt water, i noticed that they are actually bright reddish color under ambient light.
My newly acquired apisot eliz. simply love them. Now they hovered near the surface whenever they spotted me.
