Can anybody comment on azoo tri-super protein skimmer? This skimmer seems to be very similar to Queen TS2000.
It uses rio1700 or rio2100. Can I buy this skimmer online.
    Thank you.

Okay, I won't be getting one. How about another brand Weipro, I have never seen one until today. I went to 2 LFS to check for equipments, the shop owner that also stock Azoo products told me it's better than Azoo. It uses weipro 2000 pump (2100 ltr/hr) and cost about $200 with the pump. They are made in China. Also looking for MH light with reasonable look, they have one coming next week Italian made 250 watts for $600. Don't know much about light either but that sounds a bit expensive. Apparently it has a nice curve shape.
But first thing first, still looking for a reasonable skimmer.
Tank size will be 3'x20"x20" unless if I decide to convert my 4x2x2 tropheus tank to saltwater but unlikely.

ikan, if you can, I'd really recommend that you DIY your MH lights. Will be much cheaper anyway. I got a set of 150W MH lighting components from Eye Lighting at $130+, with bulb, ignitor, ballast, mogul socket and capacitor. Then maybe fork in another $50 or so for a good reflector. Total shouldn't cost more than $200 for a setup.

I don't want to spend $650 on protein skimmer setup I will look around for a cheaper one or secondhand to reduce the cost.
Thanks for the info DragonGobby, do you happened to have the schema of the setup? I will try to DIY if it only cost around $200. 150 watts is just about what I need, I am not going to keep difficult coral. I am keen on giant clam though. Do you also have a picture of your DIY MH?

    Hi ikan,

The components will come with wiring instructions printed on them, and Bernard from Eye is also very helpful in guiding you through the wiring up, so shouldn't be much of a problem here. Let me know anytime you have problems, I could help you out. I've enclosed all the components in a black box (can get at Sim Lim I think), probably take a pic tonight and post it. What do you have for a hood? You could in fact start from scratch if you love DIY, and buy 5 well-sized planks from plywood companies or some hardware stores - no need to get excellent wood. Doubt this will cost more than $50. Nail and glue together, drill 2 holes on the top plank to screw in a reflector. I'd recommend that you go to a hardware store and get them to bend some polished aluminium for you and drill 2 holes, then used a winged nut and bolt to fix the reflector and mogul base to the top plank - done!

You can add in any other fancy stuff you want - like drilling holes to conceal the wires, adding actinic FL bulbs (you should need at least 2 actinics to counter the 6500K Iwasaki bulbs if you're getting those, cos they are rather yellow. The 20KK bulbs are excellent and shouldn't need much, if any, actinic supplementation. To each his own! ) To protect the wood you can go to a DIY store (Home-Fix etc or a hardware store) to get wood sealant. Other stuff you could add: a 4" hole to attach a 4" fan to the hood, to fasciliate heat exchange.

    Just my 2c!

    Regards,
    Hong Yee

Thanks for the usefull information. I like DIY it's part of the fun. I built all the fish cabinet myself since I have benchsaw, router etc. What I like to do with the light is to get a nice aluminium cover and I like to hang it above the water with an ability to adjust the height. I prefer 10K colour, 12K max.
