I bought 10 B-A grade CRS 3 weeks ago and each day i realised that the white begins to fade away slowly. Some even become translucent now.

May i know what could have caused this??

    My tank setup as follow:

    Temp 24.8 to 25.3
    PH level 6.3 to 6.5

WC change only done 10% weekly.

There are some products that can improve the white in your CRS. Try Mosura brand

Add minerals and feed calcium to your shrimps.
There are a few products out there.

    Good luck!!

Check your water GH ( general hardness ). If it's below 5, add mosura mineral plus to increase the GH level.

there are a lot of reasons white can fade
some say its gene, some say water condition, some say stress level

i already had mosura products and using it long time ago except for mosura excel. Not sure whether is it stress a not and i dun have a GH/KH meter to measure them.

Definitely not lack of minerals as i had been using Mosura Mineral Plus everytime i water change.

    Re: CRS losing its white

You can increase GH to at least 6 by using Mosura Mineral Plus.

But it could be just your crs, your grade A when small look like A, but when grow up the white will be thin. This is true for low grade CRS.

Interesting supplement. Haven't seen it in the market though did you have to buy it from the internet?

    Thanks

    Re: CRS losing its white

They could be under stress, try increasing pH slightly to get it to 6.8.
Your temperature is in a very good range, perhaps try adding an air pump to increase dissolved oxygen even more.
What is your tank size and filter flow? is the circulation good?

Also as other bros have mentioned, you might want to check the GH and KH of your water, and perhaps add a rock of old sea mud or two to maintain mineral content.

    Re: CRS losing its white

Hm, yeah maybe i will increase the PH to 6.8. I had some coral chips inside the tank to increase my PH level cause my DW makes my PH goes down and i don'y trust any ph buffer liquid solution.

I had a tropical GH/KH test kit (bottle) but i had no colour range to check my GH/KH range.

I had been using Mosura products, shrimp tonic, bioplus, mineral plus and sea mud powder. So i dont think its not underdose of the products.

What do you mean by no colour range? it didn't give you any reading? Might want to consider picking up another GH/KH Set to confirm the readings? If you've been dosing mosura mineral plus I don't think its possible to get a zero reading on GH.

Personally I've not had great experiences with mosura mineral plus though, you might want to stop using it temporarily and see if it makes a difference.

    Which gravel are you using?

what the i meant was that it does give me a range of colours. For example they state GH from range red to green but they did not state red is from how many gh to how many gh. they only states 1 drop of the solution is equals to 1 German degree ?

My crs still is around 1cm to 1.5cm when i purchase them. Its been 3 weeks and their colours started to fade. Same goes for adult size CRS. Only 1 to 2 CRS whites still remain the same thickness. Rest are almost transparent.

I am using GEX soil (red packet).

You drop the reagent and count the drop, once it turn color, that means it is the degree of hardness. I found GH test kits color changes is substle, the best so far is Sera brand, it is adviable to buy only fresh box for best result.

Since you are talking about A and B, there is chances that you bought those Indo mass breed CRS which are known to have poor color and color thin when grow up.

Soil does play a part in color also. Some give best breeding, some give best color.

ok now i began to understand how to use the test kits. They should have used in a more simplified way of explanation. Silane is still the best

So my water GH is at 8 while KH is at 4 to 5. Is that normal??
