maybe you could provide the exact dimensions of your tank ... an estimate would be 60W to 72W ... this should give you the recommended 3W/gallon

scan, 10000k light tubes are more to the blue spectrum, it is said to promote algae growth.. but I think its ok to use it.. we recommend a full spectrum tube, I personally uses both 8500k and 10000k FL for my 6ft.

what u shld be concerned of is the wattage of the tube and not the colour temp.. and I think yr algae boom is due to over-lighting.. how many hours do u on yr lights for?

    thanks simon...

i am presently applying a 5-4-6 lighting formula to my tank. Just torn it down over the weekend(use to be using UGF).. so wonder if my combi of a 6500K FL 12W and a 10000K PL 36 W be optimum for my tank...

i saw i tank nature was only using FL lights and the plants are growing man ... bubbles can be seen too ... i think the whole tank only gt 36w .... but depends on wad type of plants u have ... my riccia under 2x36w ... bubble till the whole thing float up ... will suggest go for e-ballast ...

If I'm not using full spectrum tubes, I would try to avoid 10000K tubes for planted tank.... Try going for 6500K tubes which is known as daylight.
    Cheers!!
