if you are keeping a planted tank, you will not be able to reuse the white fine filter wool. they will turn mushy and does not hold it's shape when removed from the filter.
so replace the white filter wool every time you clean the filter while the blue filter sponge is replaced every alternate time. you can clean our filter once every 3-6 months.
