am a noob in keeping shrimps.

this is my newly setup tank of sakura and blue shrimps along with 3 snails.

last night, when i brought them home. there were two deep blue ones but they disappeared today. came home to find two sets of transparent white looking shells. initially, thought they died but after counting, the numbers still around there. it was only then, i read that they have molted. sad to say they seemed to change into "transparent" looking like shrimps now.

but the good news is that i found one baby swimming around and seemed to be a blue too.

am also waiting for 2 heavily pregnant ones to give birth.

can somebody help to identify them? please forgive me as i am really a noob in rearing shrimps.

    my tank setup

my fav snail! is it a ramshorn?

    some sakura shrimps

found in the bag of blue shrimps. the two deep blue also molted to this color. still considered blue?

    the two blue shrimps.

found in the bag of blue but in an usual color. still considered blue?

this is the one and only baby i found!

this fellow stretched out straight and curl in body several times. what it means?

The shrimp doing stretching exercises is probably getting ready to moult.

And yes that snail is a Red Ramshorn.

Its quite normal for blue shrimp to not look blue. The ones I have change colour according to their moods it seems, but in my tank with lower water temps (25C - 26C) they tend to stay more blue for longer.

Also its quite normal for shrimp to be transparent or a colour which is not "normal" for their species after moulting, give them some time and they should change back to their natural colours if they're feeling comfortable.

i noticed that the "stretching exercise" is actually the shrimp scratching or "cleaning"(?) its tail, but i may be wrong. you'll see it if you look closer, which could be hard ... haha, because the shrimp is so small, or if you see it with a larger shrimp or lobster!

i saw the "exercise" with a 2 inch (big) ghost shrimp, it is actually bending and touching its tail.

blue shrimps and sakuras may crossbreed. but you may not have an issue as they all look like females, hehe....

be careful of your snail. There maybe a fast breeding of small snails coming up.

Here's a link that provides a bit more info on the "Blue Shrimp"

    http://www.petshrimp.com/neocaridinaspblue.html

According to the website which I consider quite reliable this shrimp is a neocaridina but does not true breed true.

The transparent looking shrimp looks like Tiger Shrimp to me.

Shrimp often stretch to clean their swimmerettes.

    Welcome to Shrimps
